A caption from the Introduction page:
In November 2008, while
taking care of my Father, I was working in my Garden one day and I whispered
this prayer: “What should I do now to
supplement my income so that I can stay at home and take care of my dad and still
fulfill the vision, purpose and passion that are in my heart...?”
I received the answer
immediately: “You can start workshops to teach others how to grow healthy food
at home and hold vibrant life seminars that will show others simple steps and
actions they can take to live a more vibrant and healthy life!
My first organic
gardening workshop was held on January 23rd, 2009, my first Vibrant
Life Seminar was held on April 4th, 2009 and my first hydroponic
workshop, taught by my son, Joe Ceballos, was held the following day, April 5th,
2009. It has been an incredible and
rewarding journey from that day until now and will continue throughout my life
time.
My First Organic Gardening Workshop with 2 students on January 23, 2009.... March 21st Workshop....45 students.
My first Vibrant Life Seminar

Chapter 3
Gardening
Should Begin
In
Your Kitchen
Living Foods vs Raw Foods – What is the difference?
Let’s
talk about the difference in raw and Living Foods. Raw Foods are those picked off trees or
vines, such as apples, cucumbers, avocados, squash, tomatoes and bananas. Living Foods are beans, grains, nuts, seeds
and berries that have been soaked and sprouted.
When the sprout comes out of the grain, seed or berry it becomes a
‘Living Food’, full of life and increased nutritional value. Ann Wigmore made the point about this being
the Living Foods Lifestyle. She
believed, as do I that sprouted, Living Foods have a high nutritional value and
can help restore health quickly. The
vital energy springing forth in them as they sprout provides extra,
super-charged energy.
Sprouting For Maximum Health – Why should we grow and eat sprouts every day?
Nutritionist
Dr. Frances Grba said it best: "Sprouts become sources of complete
protein, able to sustain human life without recourse to other foods. They
contain the most digestible vitamins available because they come wrapped with
all the minerals, enzymes and still unknown factors, so necessary to the full
utilization of our food. When they are added to other foods, they make the
nutrients in these foods more useable to the body."
Growing Sprouts at home is
easy and fun! You should incorporate sprouts into your
diet every day. The sprouter you see here is the kitchen sprout garden that I
use and have available for purchase (Click Here to learn more & to order). Growing in glass jars is an option, but not a
safe method. You run a risk of growing
mold on your sprouts due to the lack of air and oxygen circulating through the
sprouts. The kitchen sprout garden allows you to grow 3 trays of seed at the same time & allows for plenty of air to pass through the sprouts.

Chapter 4
Growing
Food In The
Ground
Successfully
The Key to my Success in any Soil
FreeMart Mineralizer has become my one and only success partner for all my growing needs! It has quickly replaced what I have used for years, taking my gardening successes to levels I never thought I would see. It has far exceeded my expectations!
Ira Ebersole introduced me to Fertrell organic fertilizers and soil amendments in 1975. I have always been a successful organic gardener using these great products. However, there were a few issues I ran into over the years: availability of Fertrell products, the prices were high, the need to repeat applications were often, and the number of different amendments needed to accomplish the level of success I was looking for.
Fertrell products are not sold commercially and are very hard for some people to get. They must be ordered and purchased through a private distributor, and you may or may not be able to find one in your area. To become a dealer yourself is very pricy. This has made it hard for my students to follow my protocol.
However, here is the Good News! My husband and I have been introduced to a very unique, organic product called FreeMart Mineralizer! It is easy to get, the price is amazingly low, you only need a light dusting, repeat application once every 2 to 5 years, and it is a stand alone product! Mineralizer is the Gardner’s dream!
We had a bumper crop of summer squash from 3 plants!
Sugar Snap Peas...Yum, Yum!
Five Weeks of Growth From Seed...!
This bed of 12 tomato plants survived
4 nights in a row in 18 degrees weather in Central Florida! Fertrell was the key! The plants continued to florish and produce all the way through June!

Chapter 5
Making
Raised Beds…
Method
1 and 2
“Let’s Get Started” Outline
Making raised beds – In the Making Raised Beds section of this chapter, I will show you my hands-on pictures, plus the written instructions of how to make a raised bed in 30 minutes from grass to the planting of the seed or starter plants.
Preparing the feeding troth for seeds and/or seedlings This is my own special method and formula. You can see step by step workshop pictures in this chapter under MAKING RAISED BEDS, step 6.
The bed is ready to plant! To sow seed directly into the garden bed follow steps 1 through 5. Instead of using your starter plants or seedlings you are going to sow your soaked seed directly into the ground.

Companion Planting
Companion
planting is not a new idea to the gardening world. There is evidence of farmers
using these same techniques dating back to ancient Roman times. Many people are
familiar with the idea of planting the "Three Sisters," a Native
American technique that combines corn, squash, and beans. These are time-tested
planting methods that some dismiss as old wives tales. They would rather plant
in organized, monoculture plots that tend to have the same appearance as
different color cars parked in a mall parking lot.

Soil Conditioning and
Feeding -
the soil improvement from organic mulch is so amazing it has to be seen to be
believed. (Images don't do justice as photo resolution limits quality.)
A layer of leaves
left over your garden during the winter, will turn into the following by
spring.
- · a light crumbly layer of worm casts
- · dark moist organic matter and minerals mixed and bound into light crumbs
‘No dig’ gardeners continually mulch their
plots. The earthworms drag the organic mulch down and enrich the soil with
humus. The improved aeration and drainage saves hard spade and fork work.
Organic mulch slowly
adds nutrients to the soil as it breaks down. Mulch is a surface covering, but some gardeners like to work it
into the soil. This can leave the soil temporarily depleted in nitrogen. It's
best to leave organic mulch on the surface.
Protects
Soil Structure and Reduces Erosion – Some soil types are especially vulnerable
to structural break down by heavy rains. This can be due to the physical
pounding of rain or calcium leaching. Weakly bound sandy soils are especially vulnerable.
Erosion is also a problem wherever surface water collects and runs off. Adding
a protective layer of mulch before winter can help with this.
Maintains
Winter Warmth - Summer Cool – Mulch can behave as a heat insulator and
keep warmth in the soil over winter. This can prevent the soil beneath from
freezing and protect delicate perennials. It also gives higher starting
temperatures for earlier spring growth. Beware however; reducing heat transfer
from soil to the surface may induce air frosts.
Plants gain most benefit from warm soils in spring when seeds germinate
and new roots grow out. But in summer there’s no gain in being warmer. Indeed
heat stress can be damaging. Vines for example prefer to have cool roots.
Fortunately the insulating properties of organic mulch make the soil beneath
feel a few degrees cooler in summer.
Protects
Against Summer Drought - Improves Drainage – Cooler soil means less evaporation
and most organic mulches will hold some water too. So the soil underneath is
kept moist. This is ideal for surface rooting plants and fruit. Importantly
your mulched plants will have better drought protection to reduce stress during
hot summer days and that benefits flowers and vegetables too. As mentioned
above the increase in earthworm activity and burrows helps to improve drainage
and reduce water logging.
Suppresses Weeds – Like most mulch,
organic mulch will exclude light and therefore prevent most annual weeds. Perennial weeds are mostly unhindered and
should be removed first. Other mulches like lawn cuttings don’t seem to support
germination or tender young growth before they have not been composted. Think
of the woodlands in the fall. Dead
leaves decay, release plant nutrients and form black humus. This is ideal
material to hold water and nutrients, and to make fertile soil.
